So you have made it to Barcelona and after your long flight you probably feel jet lagged and want to take a nap, right? Wrong. The wonderful thing about Barcelona Spain is that there are many different events that take place throughout the year

Spain has numerous holidays throughout the year, many of which they celebrate in different ways. Whether its fireworks, drinking wine, a block party or a combination of these festivities you will want to make sure you get plenty of sleep on the plane. Once you arrive you will want to participate in many of the vibrant celebrations taking place in the city around you.

One of the events that many town locals as well as tourists participate in is an event called St. John’s Eve. If you are a fan of fireworks and food then you will love this memorable event. This festive event is the celebration that takes place prior to the holiday of the feast to John the Baptist.

Spectacular Events in Barcelona: if you are a music enthusiast there are music festivals that will satisfy your interest in music. If you are a self proclaimed food critic, there are a myriad of Barcelona restaurants, each with their eclectic mixture of cuisines. If you are more of a person interested in the aesthetic beauty of the arts, there are numerous art festivals throughout the year. Many of the events described below are economical, take place more than once throughout the year and will be very memorable experiences.

One place in particular is known for its fantastic display of bomb fires and fireworks is a placed called Montjuic. Montjuic is a small hill that has a fantastic view of the harbor and is renowned for its very breathtaking scenery.

There are many dances and an array of celebrations going on near this landmark. Many people have street parties, dances, different types of entertainment and music. One of the well known traditions of this event happens at the end of the night. People have been known to finish off the night by indulging in sparkling wine and chocolate cake.

One particular place that is known for its spectacular display of a combination of bomb fires and fireworks is a place called Montjuic. Another very vibrant and memorable event that you won’t want to miss is an event called Festes de Sant Medir de Gracia, which happens March 3 ever year. Each year for the past 200 years on or around the day of St. Emerterius, a horse drawn carriage comes to Gracia to Sant Cugat. In their celebration of this event the people in the carts shower the crowd with blessed boiled sweets.

As you can see every month there are special events taking place in beautiful Barcelona Spain. There will always be something for you and your guests to experience when traveling to this very festive city. Whether it’s a special religious event that is celebrated every year or a more modern event like car racing, there is always something to see.

Unless your a billionaire and have your own plane? You will also be able to enjoy water sports in the sea such as kayaking, water skiing and scuba diving.

If you like a blend of different activities on your holidays, then Barcelona also offers many culturally enriching outings. The gothic quarter (Barri Gotic) named because of the Roman remnants of its past. It is the mix of the new modernized buildings on the 90’s and the old that bring people from all over the world to stay in the Gothic Quarter.

 

Getting to Barcelona from the UK:

There are many low cost airlines such as Ryan air and Easy Jet offering cheap flights to Barcelona. These airlines fly from Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester. If you have to travel a bit to get to these airports then they have airport car parking facilities, which allows you to park your car in Heathrow parking or if you are travelling to Manchester then Manchester airport parking or if you are travelling to Birmingham airport then Birmingham airport parking spaces. Parking spaces in these airports can costs from £15 to £20 per week.
